6 New Year’s Resolutions Every Jaguar Owner Should Have
A new year is the perfect time set goals and resolutions. Many people think about ways to improve their health and general lifestyle, but we often forget about our cars. Your car is your prized possession and companion on the road; as a car owner it is your responsibility to take care of it.
Make yourself a better Jaguar owner and keep your Jaguar in the best condition with these 6 new year’s resolutions:
Don’t Neglect Car Maintenance
A well-maintained vehicle will last longer and run more efficiently. Drop the bad habit of going in for a service only when things break down and start putting a proper car maintenance checklist in place. A car maintenance checklist is a great way to ensure you remember all crucial tasks.
Check Your Tires
Make it a habit to walk around and check your tires. Tires are essential to your car’s safety and should always be in good condition. Check the wear pattern and the amount of remaining thread. If you notice unusual wear, make sure to schedule an alignment check.
Learn How to Change a Tire
Every car owner should make it their resolution to learn how to change their own tire. Yes, roadside assistance is great but what if there is a time when you need to know this important skill.
Here are the proper steps to change a tire:
- Make sure your car is in a safe area, on a flat surface.
- Get the spare tire out.
- Loosen the lug nuts with a lug wrench (just a little bit).
- Reference your owner’s manual for the correct location to place the jack.
- Raise the jack and make sure it has securely contacted the car’s frame.
- Crank up the jack until the wheel is high enough to remove the tire.
- Use the lug wrench to remove the lug nuts (you may be able to do this by hand). Make sure the lug nuts are in a secure place.
- Remove the flat tire and place it flat on the ground.
- Line up the spare tire with the wheel studs and put the lug nuts back into place with your hand. When you can’t turn the nuts or bolts any further, lower the jack until the wheel is on the ground.
- Finish tightening the lug nuts with your wrench.
Keep Your Car Clean
If your car is a mess going into the new year learn how to declutter your car and prevent future clutter. Start off by removing everything you don’t need and stop using your car as a trash can. Once your car is decluttered, give it a deep clean. Remove stains on your upholstery and wash off salt, grease, grime, acid rain, sap, dead bugs, and other things that can eat away at your paint and damage your vehicle.
End Distracted Driving
Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of accidents. Keep your safety a priority this year and pull over to a safe location if you need to use your phone.
Frequently Check Your Fluids
It’s important to keep an eye on your engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant level, brake fluid, and power steering fluid. Checking these regularly will help prevent problems down the road.
